Border & Wide Area Perimeter Security And Access Denial

The US Border Patrol estimates more than 4 million illegal's slip across the US line each year.

The US-Mexico Border is about 1945 miles long, yet only 45 miles are actually secure.

We believe border control is vital to the security of every nation and its citizens. Border security and the threat of international terrorism are issues of intense international concern. The challenge is to provide for a level of border security that is commensurate with threats from abroad, while facilitating legitimate cross-border travel and commerce, as well as protecting civil liberties.

In a letter dated February 2004, Arizona Senator John McCain recognized that Border Patrol apprehension figures demonstrated that "almost four million people crossed our borders illegally 2002" (read McCain's letter).

"We believe there is an international Salafist jihadi movement with a goal to attack the near enemy and far enemy - the US," says Richard Shultz, an international security expert at Tufts University's Fletcher School in Medford, Mass. "These terrorists are smart. They study these issues and learn from one other. And one way in is right through the southern security perimeter."

Aerospace

Air & space travel push the limits of basic materials & componentry. Mission requirements often establish weight limitations, strength, stiffness, impact resistance, or temperature requirements that cannot be met using conventional means.

US Global believes that nanotechnology will be the key to satisfying these most challenging requirements.

Aristotle

Homeland Security

US Global believes the need to safeguard the homeland has never been greater. Our efforts are focused on identifying and enabling the emerging technologies that can contribute to the enhanced safety and security of our nation and our allies . We have developed products designed to mitigate the force of explosions, and protect our nation’s armed forces in battle.

"The United States government has no more important mission than protecting the homeland from future terrorist attacks"
President George W. Bush
National Strategy for Homeland Security
July 2002

Defense

USGN believes that by harnessing advanced technologies today we will ensure that the warfighters of tomorrow have superior and affordable technology to support their missions and to provide revolutionary capabilities. USGN has developed an understanding of the full range of operations that must be performed by our military and the range of threats, including asymmetric threats such as biological warfare and information warfare. The military has long relied on industry and companies such as USGN to provide both innovation and transition of technology.

“Technological superiority is a critical component to our national security. In peace it provides deterrence; in crisis it provides options; in war it provides the edge.”
Delores M. Etter
Deputy Under Secretary of Defense
(Defense Science & Technology Strategy 2000)

Transportation

USGN believes that advanced materials and effective processes lead to superior products and ultimately can provide a competitive advantage. Our work is focused on improving the composition of materials and manufacturing conditions in order to enhance material performance and reduce production cost.

We believe we have developed a fundamental understanding of the phenomena governing the production and processing of polymer nanocomposite systems and it is our goal to translate this to applications.

We believe light weight design, high safety, comfort, and environmental compatibility are requirements that will influence the use of advanced materials throughout the transportation industry.

We believe the achievement of these objectives relies on the availability of novel or improved materials and related processes.

"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indinguishable from magic"
Sir Arthur C. Clarke

Construction

We believe nanotechnology holds great potential for the construction industry with the potential to enhance fundamental knowledge and practical performance of both basic and new construction materials, this includes the cement and concrete industry, manufacturers of admixtures for concrete and manufacturers of fine fillers (nano-particles) etc.

"The whole of science is nothing more than a refinement of everyday thinking"
Albert Einstein

Industrial

According to the National Science Foundations 2003 study on converging technologies(NBIC). The convergence of nanoscience, biotechnology, information technology and cognitive science creates tremendous opportunities for the improvement of industrial productivity and quality of human life.
